Louise Powers

Louise M. Powers, age 95, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2002 at Berlin Memorial Hospital. She was a resident of Green Lake Manor.

Louise was born November 4, 1906 in Princeton, WI. a daughter of Gustav and Linda (Dumdey) Weinkauf. They moved to Green Lake in 1912. She attended Green Lake schools graduating from Green Lake High School in 1925. She then attended Oshkosh Business College for two years. Louise married Paul V. Powers in 1943. She was employed at Wis. Central Lumber Co. for seven years as a bookkeeper and secretary. She then was employed by Home Owners Loan Corp. (HOLE) in Madison (1935) Milwaukee (1936), and Chicago (1940). For the next 25 years she was employed for the I.R.S. in Milwaukee before retiring to Green Lake in 1959. Louise was a member of the Federated Church of Green Lake, the Green Lake Historical Society, Tuscumbia Golf Club, Friends of the Library, and the Bowling League.

Survivors include one brother, Edward Weinkauf of Oshkosh and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul in 1972, her twin sister, Leone and sisters Marie and Anita. Also preceded by three brothers, Gustav, Gary, and Carl.

Services will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. with visitation from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service, at the Federated Church of Green Lake. Rev Karen Gygax Rodriguez will be officiating. Interment will be at Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. A memorial has been established.
