Lovell Mac McCulloch, age 82, formerly of Ripon, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, December 29, 2005, at Cedar Lake Health Care Center in West Bend.
He was born August 3, 1923, in Fond du Lac, a son to Lovell G. and Luella (Pommerville) McCulloch. He graduated from Waupun High School. Mac served in the U.S. Navy as a Medical Technician during WWII. He received his B.S. and Master Degrees from UW-LaCrosse, and taught physical education and coached football and baseball in Wilton, Waterford, and for thirty years in Ripon Schools. He married Annise Miller and she passed away in November of 1959. He later married Margaret Marge Gorman in 1963 and she passed away in March 1998. Mac was active in both the Ripon and Markesan Lions Clubs, and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon and the American Legion. Mac had played college baseball and football, and also played for a minor league baseball team. His strong belief in early education is evident in his support of Grace Lutherans Preschool program and the book he wrote and published on motor development.
He is survived by his children, Kurt (Wendy) McCulloch of West Bend and their children Daniel and Sarah, Sandra (Jim) Herron of Madison and their children Joel, Jamie and Jonathan, and Susan Hendricks of Florida and her children Nicholas and Jennifer; two brothers, Roland Bud (Donna) McCulloch and Glen McCulloch; two sisters, Jean Michels and DeloresBabe Buchda; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two wives.
Funeral service for Lovell Mac McCulloch will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2006, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. Visitation will be Monday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home where a Legion Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun. A memorial has been established for the Wisconsin Lions Camp.
