Lowell Tavs, age 83, of Ripon, Wisconsin, passed away Friday evening, August 6,1999, at Parkview Care Center.
Lowell was born October 20, 1915, in rural Brandon, Wisconsin, the son of Otto A. and Rose (Wilsnack) Tavs. He graduated from Brandon High School and was employed as a printer at Ripon Foods from 1954 until his retirement in 1981.
Lowell was an active member of Immanuel United Methodist Church of Ripon, serving as Head Usher for many years. He was also very active as a camp counselor, and received the Denman Evangelism Award in 1988. Lowell also kept the family farm and loved gardening, flowers, and raising poultry.
Lowell is survived by two sisters; Lois Zimdars, of Ripon; and Doris (Roy) Smith of Ripon; Nephew; Gary (Suzanne) Smith, and their son Jason of Illinois. Nieces, Cheryl (Robert) Schrader, of Adams, Wisconsin; and Rosemary Zimdars and her children, Thomas and Michelle of Ripon. Nephews, Dean (Gloria) Zimdars and their children, Kyleh and Zachary of Oshkosh, and Rodney (Patricia) Zimdars of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 11,1999, with visitation from 9~11 A.M., and services at 11:00 A.M. at the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon, with Pastor David Busker officiating. Internment will be at Brandon Cemetery, in the village of Brandon. A memorial has been established.
