Lucille Rose Mathia (Cismoski) age 102, Ripon, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at Fountain View Care Center, Ripon.
Lucy was born August 29, 1904, the daughter of Anna and Joseph Cismoski. Lucy attended Red Granite and Berlin schools and then moved to Milwaukee at age 18, where she worked as a seamstress. In 1925 she married Alfred Mathia at St. Stanislaus Church in Berlin. Lucy and Al had a successful fur business in Milwaukee from 1925 until 1938, and then moved to Ripon, where they operated their own farm. In 1946, they left the farm and moved to town to start on their retirement. Lucy was an excellent seamstress, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. In her later years, Lucy enjoyed spending many winters in Mexico with her husband. Lucy was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and was a former member of the altar society.
She is survived by her daughter Lois (Howard) Kotlowski, of Waterford, her son Robert (Joan) Mathia, of Ripon; one sister Florence Hoppner, Oshkosh, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband Alfred, three sisters, four brothers, and her parents.
Visitation for Lucille Mathia will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2006 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 218 Blossom St, Ripon.
Mass of Christian Burial for Lucille Mathia will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church with Father Robert A. Fictum officiating. Interment will be held in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Ripon. A memorial may be given to Hospice Hope, 114 N. Pearl St. Berlin, WI 54923.
