Lutzie (Lu) Davis, 88, died Wednesday, February 1, 1989, at Parkview Nursing Home.
She was born June 5, 1900, in Greenville, WI, to Henry and Augusta Kaphingst Menning. She was educated in the Appleton Area and graduated from Busheys Business College.
She married William Guy Davis on December 17, 1921. She and her husband owned and operated a grocery store on Watson Street in Ripon from 1931 to 1945, The Davis Hotel from 1945 to 1949, and along with their four sons, The Davis Super Market on Blackburn St., from 1952 to 1974. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons, Robert M. of Sun City West, Arizona, Raymond H. of Ripon and James W. of Ripon; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Thomas E.
There will be no visitation; however, funeral services will be held Saturday, February 4, 1989 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ripon. The Father John Schmitz officiating. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
