Mabel R. Crook, age 94, of 1130 N Margaret St., Markesan, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2004, one week away from her 95th birthday, at the Berlin Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 6, 1909, at home in Ripon, a daughter of Karl and Paulina (Bliefnick) Buelow. She attended Ripon High School. On September 3, 1927, she married Frederick “Fred” E. Crook. Mabel had been a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ all her entire life, and sang with the Everybody Singers at church. She was a member of the Homemakers and the Green Lake Senior Center. Mabel enjoyed her Church, her family, playing cards, reading, playing bingo, keeping a daily diary, crocheting, garage sales, and just enjoying life.

Survivors include her 3 daughters, Barbara (Roy) Berndt of Ripon, Charlene Frederick of Ripon and Janet (Jim) Rose of Holiday Island, AR; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Fred; 3 brothers, Frank, Alfred and Albert Buelow; 2 sisters, Ella Weckwerth and Alma Stanisch; and son-in-law, Raymond Frederick,

Funeral service will be at 10:30 .a.m. on Friday, April 2, 2004, at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ with Rev. Mark West officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, and again on Friday at the church 1 hour prior to the service, Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the church in her name.
