Mabel E. Lent, age 84, of Ripon, died Monday morning, May 21, 2001, at the Markesan Resident Home after a brief stay.
She was born January 25, 1917, in Ripon, a daughter to William F. and Huldah (Woodill) Schwiesow. Mabel graduated from Ripon High School in 1935, and attended 1 year at Ripon College. She then attended business college in Chicago for 2 years and graduated as an accountant. She worked for the US government inspecting bombs from 1942-1945. In 1947, she married L.D. Lent in Chicago. Mabel was a self-employed accountant, and after their retirement, they moved from Chicago to Buffalo Lake. Upon the death of her husband, she moved back to Ripon to live in the same house where she was born.
She is survived by her nephew, David L. Schwiesow of CA and 2 great-nieces. Preceding her in death were her parents, brother & sister-in-law, Carleton F. & Jean Schwiesow, and most recently her twin sister, Mildred C. Schwiesow on May 10, 2001.
A memorial service for Mabel E. Lent will be Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home with the Rev. Debora Hillgartner officiating. There will be no visitation. lnurnment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Columbus. A memorial has been established.
