Madaline Gilbert

Madaline Gilbert, age 87, of Ripon, WI passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Maplecrest Manor in Ripon, with her loving family by her side.

Madaline was born in Ripon on December 15, 1936, daughter of Alexander and Caroline (Rivers) Briskie. She graduated from Ripon High School and went on to earn her nursing degree at UW Oshkosh. She worked as a nurse at Ripon Hospital, Doctors Hospital in Milwaukee, and the military hospital in Fort Leonard Wood, MO until her retirement. In 1960, she married Eugene Gilbert in Ripon, who passed away in 2001. Madaline loved playing Bingo or any card game; was an avid quilter and crocheter; a passionate and talented reader, often reading multiple books at a time; and was a world wide traveler, taking many trips with her sisters over the years. She also loved her wine, and would drink any kind that anyone brought to her.

Madaline is survived by her sisters, Bernadette (Briskie) Krentz, Frances Chmielewski and Theresa (Jeff) Duven; a brother, Patrick Briskie; brother-in-law, Roger Mlodzik; sister-in-law, Donna Briskie; and many nieces; nephews, great-nieces; great-nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Gilbert; parents, Alexander and Caroline Briskie; a daughter, Marilyn Gilbert; a brother, Anthony (Elaine) Briskie; sister, Evelyn Mlodzik; brothers-in-law, Robert Chmielewski and Gordon Krentz; and a sister-in-law, Christine Briskie.

Visitation for Madaline will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 228 E. Blossom St., Ripon, WI 54971.

A funeral mass for Madaline will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon, with Father Chuck Wrobel officiating. You may view a livestream at 11:00 am by visiting this link LIVESTREAM. Inurnment will take place at Oaklawn Cemetery in Richland, MO at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Madaline’s name to the Ripon Public Library, 120 Jefferson St., Ripon, WI 54971.
