Margaret Carew

Margaret Elizabeth Carew, age 95, of Green Lake, WI, entered into Eternal Rest on February 13, 1989, at Riverdale Manor Nursing Home in Markesan.

She was born October 31, 1893, in Madison to John and Mary Barry Hayes. On August 20, 1920, she married Alvin Carew. He preceded her in death on November 6, 1973.

Mrs. Carew was a 1915 graduate of the University of Wisconsin. She was a teacher, homemaker and from 1960 to 1971 she was the Green Lake Librarian. She was also the Green Lake Correspondent for the Oshkosh Northwestern from 1960 to 1971. Mrs. Carew was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake, member of the Ladies Sodality of the church and the church choir. She was chairman of Green Lake County Chapter of the American Cancer Society for many years.

She was the Beloved Mother of two sons, Jack of Green Lake and David of Colorado Springs, CO; two daughters, Mary Margaret Pierce of Madison, WI and Jean Ann Jones of Indo, CA; Loving Grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake. The Reverend Leo Joyce will officiate and interment will follow in the Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon where a rosary will be recited at 8:00 pm. A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
