Margaret Mcculloch

Margaret (Marge) Ruth McCulloch, age 77, of Markesan, died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at Parkview Care Center, Ripon.

She was born November 15, 1920, in North Fond du Lac, WI. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Lang) Gorman. After her mother’s death, she was raised by her mother’s sister, Bertha Johnson. She was married May 23, 1963, to LoveII (Mac) McCulloch, Jr. Marge graduated from North Fond du Lac High School, attended Ripon College, graduated from St. Agnes School of Nursing and from Marquette University with a BSN and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a MSN. She served in World War II as an Army Nurse and retired as a First Lt. ANC.

Her career as a nurse touched many people starting at Rueping Leather Company as an industrial nurse, from there as a school nurse at Fond du Lac, and finally as director of health education at Ripon Public Schools where she retired after many years of service. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon, a member of the Ripon Women’s Club, Marquette Homemaker’s Club, NAUS, Wisconsin Nurses Association, American Legion and Wisconsin Educators Association.

She is survived by her husband, Lovell of Markesan; I son, Kurt (Wendy) McCulloch of West Bend; 2 daughters, Sandra (James) Herron of Madison and Susan Hendricks of Gainsville, FL; 7 grandchildren, Daniel and Sarah McCulloch, Joel, Jamie and Jonathan Herron, and Nicholas and Jennifer Hendricks; I sister, Verna Pauly of Appleton; a sister-in-law, Virginia Gorman of Grand Rapids, MN; 3 nieces, Louise Powell, of Claredon Hills, IL, Mary Jo Pauly of Appleton and Susan Perry of Grand Rapids, MN; a very dear friend, Betty Ann Manser of Ripon; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by I brother, James Gorman.

She will be greatly missed and remembered for her serving heart, the way in which she put others first, and her sewing and crafts that touched so many of us.

Funeral services for Marge McCulloch will be held at 10:00 AM,
Thursday, March 26, 1998, at Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon with The Reverend Paul L. Holte officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:30 PM, Wednesday, March 25, 1998, at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, and on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the hour of the services at the church. A Legion Service will be held Wednesday at 7:30 PM at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, a Memorial has been established for Grace Pre-School Scholarship Fund and Grace Lutheran Church.
