Maria Anna Roberts, age 75, of Eldorado died Monday, September 3, 2001, at her home.
Maria was born November 19, 1925, in Nekimi Township, a daughter to Lillian (Schultz) and Karl Charlie Leichtfuss. She was educated at St. Johns Lutheran and Goldenrod Schools. She married Thomas E. Roberts on January 1, 1944, in Oshkosh, and worked side by side with her husband as a homemaker and farmwife on the family farm for 40 years, dedicating her life to family and friends. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church of Nekimi, where she participated in various ministries of the church especially the Quilting Circle. She was also a member of AAL, Lutheran Brotherhood, Galloway House volunteer, Master Gardeners, and Homemakers Club.
Survivors include; Daughter, Adeline (Frank) Bernard of Kewaunee, WI and her two children, Thomas (Laura) Pahnke, Milwaukee, WI and Matthew Pahnke, Chicago, IL Daughter; Dawn (Stephen) Roberts-Lindholm of Garland, TX Daughter; Carolee (James) Schultz of Ripon, WI and their two sons, Joshua and Peter Schultz, of Ripon. Daughter-in-law, Sandy Roberts of Eldorado, WI. and one son Timothy Roberts, Eldorado. She is also survived by an Honorary grand- daughter, Kristine Maassen of Oshkosh; two sisters, Evelyn Jensen of BrownsvilIe and Jeanette Kissinger of Fond du Lac. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Roberts; her son, Roland Roberts; four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 4, 2001, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 8:00, at St. Johns Lutheran Church of Nekimi, 491 Old Oregon Road, Oshkosh. Services will be Wednesday, September 5, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Reverend James E. Reiff will officiate. Interment will be in Rosendale Cemetery, Village of Rosendale. Memorials may be directed to St. Johns Lutheran Church of Nekimi.
