Marie A. Busse age 88, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at the Markesan Resident Home.
She was born on April 5, 1924, in Oshkosh, WI, the daughter of Alvin “Hoddie” and Ethel (Wooster) Abell. Marie grew up in Green Lake where she graduated from high school in 1942. She then graduated from Carroll College in 1946, majoring in Business Administration. Marie married George “Junie” Busse on August 21, 1948 at the Congregational Church in Green Lake. She worked as a bookkeeper/secretary to the Board of Education in the Green Lake Public Schools for twenty-five years.
Marie enjoyed music throughout her life. She often played the piano and sang at various community events. She was a member of the Federated Church Choir for many years. Marie and her husband were also actively involved in scouting with their sons.
She is survived by one daughter, Ann (Greg) Mattison of Ann Arbor, MI and two sons, Philip (Debbie) Busse of Green Lake, WI and Jim (Jeanne) of LaGrange Park, IL; six grandchildren, George (Jessie) Busse, Phil (Melissa) Busse, Lisa (Ken) Roberts, Bryan (Julie) Mattison, Rebecca Busse and Paul Busse and five great-grandchildren, Kylee, Jacob, Philip, Mattison and Hadlee. Marie was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A private memorial service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Federated Church in Green Lake. Reverend Karen Gygax-Rodriguez will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake.
