Marie Leeman

Marie A. Leeman, age 91, of Ripon, died Tuesday, January 7, 1997, at Parkview Care Center.

She was born August 12, 1905, in Green Lake County, a daughter to Otto and Anna (Schrader) Badtke. She attended Green Lake and Berlin Public Schools. Marie married Chester Leeman in 1940, and he passed away in 1957. She had been Food Manager at Ripon College, Camp Robinhood in Green Lake and at The Clearing at Ellison Bay. She had lived in Ripon most of her life, and was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, Women’s Guild and Altar Society, and member of The Clearing and the Ripon Historical Society. Marie had a lifelong interest in music and played the violin in the Oshkosh Symphony Orchestra during the 1930’s.

She is survived by 3 sisters, Olive Blake and Irma Badtke, both of Ripon and Alice Brunner of Horicon, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters and 1 brother.

Funeral service will be Friday, January 10, 1997, at 11 A.M. at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, Ripon. The Reverend Eric Burnard will officiate and burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 until 7 P.M. at the Butzin—Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. A Memorial has been established for Our Saviour’s Church in her name.
