Marilyn Farrell, age 77, and Norman Farrell, age 82, of Green Lake, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, as a result of a car accident in Green Lake County.
Marilyn was born on December 19, 1932, in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Arlo and Ann (Youngbauer) Pitcher. She graduated from Green Lake High School. Marilyn spent her life as a “stay at home mom” until her children were in school. She cooked for St. Johns Catholic School and was a secretary for a local gas company, bookkeeper for the family business and most recently a kitchen aide and server at the Green Lake Conference Center. Marilyn was passionate about her volunteer work which included the Food Pantry in Green Lake and the Green Lake Triad. She was a member of the Women’s Club, where she held many leadership roles, including several state offices. She served on Parish Council as well as a number of other committees at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. She was a member of the Council of the Catholic Woman which included the Green Lake Marquette County Deanery. In addition to her volunteer work, Marilyn took great pride and showed tremendous commitment in raising her grandson, providing care to both her son’s, her beloved husband as well as assisting a good friend and neighbor.
Norman was born on September 12, 1928, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of James and Lillian (O’Connell) Farrell. He was employed as a mason at Ceman Construction, an owner/operator of Morning Glory Dairy Distributor, and a driver for Farrell Wagon. Norman was a Knights of Columbus 4th degree member, an avid sports fan enjoying football and baseball. Norman played 3rd base in Princeton for many years and also enjoyed being an umpire. He served two terms as Mayor of Princeton, initially elected by write in vote.
On June 27, 1953, Marilyn and Norman were married at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake, WI.
Marilyn and Norman are survived by their son, Gordon (Pam) Farrell of Green Lake, WI; daughters, Ann (Tim) Marr of New Berlin, WI, Colleen (Keith) Kasubaski of Wautoma, WI and Patty (Lee) Volp of Winneconne, WI; grandchildren, Sara (Tom) Behling, James (Brittany) Farrell, Benjamin Farrell, Alyson Marr, Joseph Kasubaski, Mandy Farrell, Kevin Marr, Steven Kasubaski, Carly Volp and Elise Volp; great-grandchildren, Alex, Hannah and Rebecca and Matthias Behling and Wesley and Hudson Farrell and many nieces and nephews. Marilyn is further survived by brothers, Thomas (Judy) Pitcher of Mosinee, WI and Kenneth (Pat) Pitcher of Greenville, SC; sister, Barb (special friend, Don) Conger of Elcho, WI; and sister-in-law, Betty Pitcher of Wichita, KS. Marilyn and Norman were preceded in death by each of their parents; daughter, Connie Farrell; and son, Timothy Farrell. Marilyn was further preceded in death by her brother, Ed Pitcher. Norman was further preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Donald and Gordon Farrell; and one sister, Beatrice Opgenorth.
Visitation for Marilyn and Norman Farrell will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010, from 4 – 7:00 pm with a Rosary Service at 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr. Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Saturday, November 6, 2010, from 10 – 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 530 Ruth St. Green Lake, WI 54941.
Mass of Christian Burial for Marilyn and Norman Farrell will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake, WI. Father Philip Krogman will officiate. Interment will follow at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake, WI. A memorial is being established; however a collection of can goods will be accepted at the visitation on Friday at the funeral home.
