Marion Ladwig, age 84, of the Town of Brooklyn, WI, passed away peacefully at home Monday, October 10, 2011.
Marion and her twin sister Marguerite were born June 25, 1927, in the Town of Berlin, WI, daughter of Robert and Elsie (Zuehlke) Gelhar. Marion graduated from Berlin High School and Green Lake County Normal School. She taught school in Green Lake and Fond du Lac County in one room rural grade schools. On June 30, 1951, Marion married the love of her life and best friend, Roger at Grace Lutheran Church in Berlin, WI. Marion and Roger had three children, Lee, Loren and Luann. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon. Marion was a homemaker and she was a great inspiration for her family. She farmed with Roger in the Town of Brooklyn and loved to help him with the farm work and taking care of the farm animals. She loved to drive her horses in weddings and parades. Marion liked to go to auctions, buying old farm equipment, wrenches and carpenter tools. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially hunting locally and trips out west with Roger and her family. After Roger retired from Speed Queen, they traveled through out the United States and many countries around the world. Marion and Roger liked to Square Dance and took many bus trips with their square dance friends to National Square Dance Conventions in various states and Canada. She was a member of the Steel Workers Union Retirees Club.
Survivors include her husband, Roger of the Town of Brooklyn, WI; children, Lee (Diane) Ladwig of Fond du Lac, WI and Luann Ladwig of Pewaukee, WI; grandchildren, Joanne (Angelo) Viard of North Carolina, Julie (David) Hanson of St. Paul, MN, Jason (Valerie) Ladwig of Wautoma, WI, Jeffrey Ladwig of Colorado Springs, CO and Conner Ladwig of Pewaukee, WI; great-grandchildren, Sebastian Viard and Evan Viard; two sisters, Marguerite (Alden) Pretz (twin sister) and Dorothy Wendlandt; brother-in-law, Gene Ladwig and nieces, nephews and friends. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, son, Loren and two brothers, Donald and Raymond.
Visitation for Marion Ladwig will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2011, from 9 11:00 am at Messiah Lutheran Church, 500 Mayparty Dr. Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral service for Marion Ladwig will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2011, at 11:00 am at Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon. Reverend Bryan Fritsch will officiate. Interment will follow at Bluffton Cemetery in the Town of Brooklyn.
Memorials may be given to Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon.
