Marlene Bertha Joanne (Vossekuil) Emerson, age 66, of Ripon, WI, died Monday, September 8, 1997, at Michalenes in Ripon.
She was born February 14, 1931, in the Waupun area, a daughter to John and Clara (Dorrestyn) Vossekuil. She grew up in the Waupun area and attended school in Waupun. She married Orville Frank Emerson on June 26, 1954, and they made their home in Ripon since 1957. In her early years, Marlene worked at Hoth & James Shoe Factory in Waupun, and later worked at Ripon Foods for 32 years, retiring in 1994. She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church of Ripon.
Survivors include her husband, Orville; three children, Gail Carley of Berlin, Roger (Joan) Emerson of Ripon and Lisa (Bob) Kwakkel of Ripon; and five grandchildren, Amy, Eric, Jason, Chad and Curt. She is further survived by 7 brothers, Richard (Bernice) Vossekuil of Oregon, Leroy (Verona) Vossekuil of Waupun, Lester (Delores) Vossekuil of Ripon, Wayne (Kay) Vossekuil of California, Rueben (Louise) Vossekuil of California, Orin (Joyce) Vossekuil of Waupun and Ken Vossekuil of Chicago, Illinois; and three sisters, Sharon (Willis) Kwakkel of Pickett, Paulette Sauerbrei of Waupun and Marilyn (John) VanderZanden of Waupun. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Sylvia Hall.
Funeral service for Marlene Emerson will be Friday, September 12, 1997, at 2 pm at Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon with Reverend Paul Holte officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 11, 1997, from 4 until 8 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon and again on Friday from 1 pm until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in Nepeuskun Cemetery, in the Town of Nepeuskun. A memorial has been established.
