Marlene Gibbons, age 82, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Prairie Place in Ripon, with family by her side.
Marlene was born July 19, 1931, at home in Brandon, WI, the daughter of Oscar and Dorothy (Lange) Nimmer. She graduated from Brandon High School and on October 27, 1951, Marlene married Wayne J. Gibbons at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Brandon. She was a member of Brandon Homemakers and a member of Twin R Homemakers of Ripon for 40 years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and involved in the Women of the Church, Eve Circle, quilting and a choir member. Marlene was the Bookkeeper for their family business, Gibbons Electric. Her favorite hobbies were collecting antiques and refinishing furniture. Marlene was a model Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.
Survivors include: a sister, Karen (Nimmer) Manske of Markesan; two daughters, Gail (Christopher) Widger of FL, and Jane (Paul) Reilly-Smith of Schofield, WI; two sons, Daniel Gibbons of Princeton, WI and Commander Thomas (Kristine) Gibbons of Coronado, CA; twelve grandchildren, Amanda (Anthony) Criezis, Megan, Melissa Reilly and Nevin Smith; Kaitlan, Lane (Sarah) Gibbons, Jennifer (Logan) Metesh and Paige Gibbons; Zachary (Kendall), Aaron, Elizabeth and Hannah Gibbons; three great-grandchildren, Garrett and Aubrey Gibbons and Madelyn Criezis, niece, Eileen (Bob) Harbin of WI; nephew, Galen (Susan) Burke of TX, and many more special nieces, nephews and caring, loving friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; young son, Lane, and her parents.
Visitation for Marlene will be held Friday, December 27, 2013, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Drive, Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Saturday December 28, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 430 W. Griswold Street, Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral service for Marlene will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Ripon. The Reverend Clay R. Salmela will officiate. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery, Village of Brandon. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
The family wishes to share special thanks to the staff at Prairie Place CBRF for over 2 years of tender loving care, the Agnesian Hospice Care and her faithful family at Grace Lutheran Church.
