Martha S. Smith, 85, of N7911 Union St. Ripon, died January 18, 1994, at Ripon Medical Center, Ripon.
She was born June 2, 1908 in Chicago, the daughter of Warren B. and Lola N. (Newcomb) Smith. She never married. Martha spent her early childhood in Ripon. After earning a law degree from John Marshall in Chicago, she was an attorney in private practice for the family business, A.J. Smith & Son Federal Savings and Loan in Chicago. Martha last lived in Hinsdale, IL before retiring and moving back to Ripon in 1984. She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Ripon, and a member of Kappa Delta Sorority at Northwestern University.
Nieces and nephews survive her.
Funeral services for Martha Smith will be held Saturday, January 22, 1994, at 2:00 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. The Reverend Robert J.C. Brown will officiate. Interment will be in the Garden of the Cross Cemetery, Ripon.
Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in her name.
