Martha Stende

Martha (Mickey) Stende, age 83, passed away April 7, 2002 at Ripon Medical Center, Ripon. She had resided at Michalene’s for the past three years.
Martha was born October 11, 1918 in Riverside, IL. daughter of Charles and Martha (Guthrie) DeLeuw. She received her education at Riverside, IL., Stephens Junior College of Columbia, MO., and graduated Cum Laude from Carleton College of Northfield, MN. She married Donald Stende on April 18, 1942. In 1972, she and her husband Don moved to Ripon from Fargo, N.D. upon retirement. She was a member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon.
Survivors include; one daughter, Martha “Marty” (Don) Kloehn of Ripon. Two sons; John (Joyce) Stende, Fargo, N.D. and Keith (Cathy) Stende, Des Moines, IA., also survived by six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. One step brother, Charles De Leuw Jr. of Walnut Creek, CA., one step sister Sally De Leuw of Portland, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband in 1999.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon with Rev. Rebecca Johnston officiating. Inurnment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, City of Ripon. Memorials may be directed to Anne Carlsen School, 301 7th Ave. N.W., Jamestown, N.D. 58401.
