Marvin F. Born, age 91, of Ripon, WI, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Fountain View Care Center in Ripon.

Marvin was born December 10, 1922, in the Town of Springvale, son of Fred and Martha (Ziesmer) Born. He was baptized and confirmed at Ripon Grace Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Ripon High School class of 1941. After graduation, Marvin proudly served his Country during World War II from 1942-1945. Stationed in the China, Burma, and India Theatre with the Army Air Corp, he felt honored and very proud to serve his Country. On January 31, 1948 he and Marion Lynch were united in marriage at Our Saviour’s Church in Ripon where they were members for 30 years. January 31, 2014 would mark their 66th Wedding Anniversary. Marvin worked for Van Metre Transportation as a Diesel Mechanic up until his disability retirement in 1975 due to heart attacks. In later years he worked part-time as a gate attendant at Green Lake Conference Center. Marvin found enjoyment in fishing and hunting with his son Steven, grandson Jordan, and all their family and friends. He also enjoyed a good game of cards at any time.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Marion; his son Steven (Christine) Born of Waupun, six grandchildren: Kari (Ryan), Steve (Becky) and Chad (Nikki) Born of Wausau and Merrill area, Myranda and Michaella Born of Oshkosh, Jordan Born (Mallory) of Waupun. Also five great-grandchildren: Ashley, Elizabeth, Devon, Austin, and Nickolas; one brother and sister-in-law, Lyndon and June Lynch of Ripon, many dear nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one infant, brother, Arthur (Theresa), two sisters Vera Born and Erna (Harry) Wrzinske.

In accordance with Marvin’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral services. Private family burial will take place at the Nepeuskun Cemetery, Town of Nepeuskun, at a later date.

The family extends great thanks to Generations Hospice members, Lakeland Care District, along with Comfort Keepers. Last but not least, thanks to Fountain View Care Center staff and Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home for all their kindnesses.
