Marvin "Mike" Wetzel

Marvin “Mike” A. Wetzel, age 78, of Ripon, died Monday, September 16, 1996, at Parkview Care Center, Ripon.

He was born in Fond du Lac County on September 7, 1918, a son of August and Ida (Lehman) Wetzel. He was educated in the Ripon School System and later served in the U.S. Army for 3-1/2 years. On August 28, 1950, he married Shirley Kimble and they made their home in Ripon. He worked for over 52 years at Ripon Foods. Mike had been an avid Green Bay Packer fan since 1936. Mr. Wetzel was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon, and was an usher for many, many years when the church was formerly called Immanuel Evangelical United Bretheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; 2 daughters, Wendy (Craig) Grahn and Connie (Bryan) Kautzer, both of Ripon; 3 grandchildren, Jeremy Kautzer and Jessica & Kaycee Grahn; 1 sister, Myra Wetzel of Juneau; 1 sister-in-law, Rosie Wetzel of Ripon; nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister-in-law, his first wife, Irma Pomplun and infant son.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 18, 1996, at 3:00 P.M. at Immanuel United Methodist Church, Ripon. The Reverends David Busker and Ray Steger will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the church.
