Marvin Schatzke

August 21, 1934 — March 12, 2002

Marvin A. Schatzke, age 67, of Eagle St., Ripon, died Tuesday evening, March 12, 2002, under Hospice Care at Michalene’s in Ripon.

He was born August 21, 1934, in Richford, WI, a son to Arden E. and Meta (Manthey) Schatzke. He attended Budsin and Westfield Schools. Marvin served in the U.S. Army from May 1957 to May 1959, and was a member of the 6th Infantry Co. A stationed in Berlin, Germany. After the service, he worked as a mixer at Ripon Foods. Until his retirement, he worked as a motor assembler at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac, and was a member of the Mercury Quarter Century Club and Local Union #1947 I.A.M. He was a member of Schultz-Klemp-Wentland Post #527 of Ripon.

Survivors include his sons, Daniel (Sally) Schatzke, Randy (Sue) Schatzke, and Kevin Schatzke, all of Ripon; 7 grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor (Richard) Paulsen of Madison, Elaine Helgerson of McFarland, Arlene (Harvey) Leppin of Fairwater; brother, Harvey (Barbara) Schatzke of Oshkosh; sister-in-law, Joan Schatzke of Fond du Lac; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brian; granddaughter, Kelly; and brothers, Harley, Kermit and Kenneth.

Funeral service for Marvin A. Schatzke will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2002, at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon with Rev. Donald Deike officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Hospice Hope/ Central WI Branch, 114 N Pearl St, Berlin, WI 54923.

Marvin’s special interests included: Coffee Clutch at McDonald’s, gardening, computer tech, building and remodeling, and many other interests. Marv’s sense of humor will be greatly missed, and the immortal line “Good luck to you!”
