Marvin A. Sonntag, age 60, passed away on Tuesday evening, April 17, 1990, at his Green Lake residence.
He was born September 13, 1929, in Outlook, Montana, a son to Albert and Eleanore (Hasselman) Sonntag. On September 20, 1952, he married Philamae Panozzo in Rockford, Illinois.
Mr. Sonntag was a 1952 graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He was owner of PGI (formerly Protexal) in Green Lake. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake and was a past Church Council President. He was past Chairman of the Board of Berlin Hospital Assoc. and he had been a board member for nine years. He was past President of the Green Lake Lions Club, a member of Ducks Unlimited, past President of the Green Lake Yacht Club and past Chairman of Golden Key Charities. Mr. Sonntag was formerly a board member of the Lippert Corp. and was a member of the Wisconsin C.P.As.
Survivors include his wife, Phil and his mother, both of Green Lake; two sons, James and his wife Linda, and Tom Sonntag, all of Green Lake; four daughters, Julie Gneiser and her husband Gary, and Lynda Hill and her husband Dan, all of Green Lake; Mary Sonntag of New York, New York and Patty Sonntag of Green Lake; twelve grandchildren; one brother, Wayne of Green Lake and one sister-in-law, Joanne Nelson and her husband, Richard of Rockford, Illinois.
Friends may call Friday, April 20, 1990, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon where a Prayer Service will be recited at 8:00 p.m. Friends may also call on Saturday, April 21, 1990, from 10:00 until the hour of services at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 21, 1990, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. The Reverend Leo Joyce will officiate. Interment will be in the Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. A memorial has been established for the Clinical Cancer Center at the University of Wisconsin.
