Mary Ahonen

August 14, 1920 — January 30, 2017

Mary Magdaline Kleinbrook Ahonen entered eternal life peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, January 30, 2017.

Born in Ironwood, Michigan on August 14th 1920, to Joseph and Harriet Kleinbrook, Mary married Donald E. Ahonen on September 1st 1941.

Mary is survived by her three children: Donald T. Ahonen (Susan) Markesan, Wisconsin; Jeanne Klotz (Michael) Appleton, Wisconsin; Margery Mackin (Tim) Wakefield, Michigan; and her brother Joseph Kleinbrook, Northbrook, Illinois. Her seven grandchildren; Cynthia Haasl (Brent), Forrest Ahonen (Maki), Thomas S. Ahonen (Kendall), Brian Klotz (Lisa), Margery Beck (Stephen), Milo Lipson (Mai) and Eva (Tom) Lipson, as well as her six great grandchildren: Dillon Haasl, Alyx Haasl, Travis Klotz, Justice Webb-Ahonen and Eli and Hannah Lipson.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband (Donald E.), her parents Joseph and Harriet Kleinbrook, her four sisters Jeanne Kleinbrook, Ione Comparin, Ivaleen Thomas, Vaughn Hill, one brother William Kleinbrook, and one great grandson, Timothy Klotz.

Mary attended Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood, Michigan and continued her studies at Northwest Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she earned her degree in Clinical Laboratory as an X-Ray Technician.

Mary and Donald lived in Ironwood, Michigan; Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and Stuart Florida.

No matter where Mary and Donald lived, they loved playing golf together. They excelled at golf, in fact they both boasted the accomplishment of a hole-in-one. Mary also enjoyed serving her Church in any way that she could. Donald and Mary were devoted Christians and brought their children to God at early ages. She loved to paint, needle point, garden and loved to bake. She was a wonderful loving mother and will be greatly missed by her family.

A private family funeral service for Mary will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Terrace Shores Evangelical Free Church in Markesan. Mary will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Donald, at Forest Hills Cemetery in Palm City, Florida.
