Mary Gneiser

June 23, 1912 — February 25, 2000

Mary Evelyn Gneiser, age 87, of Ripon, died Friday, February 25, 2000, at Markesan Resident Home.

She was born June 23, 1912, in Marquette, a daughter to George and Minnie (Harmel) Cluppert. She received her schooling in Marquette and helped on the family farm. On October 4, 1941, she married Edgar Gneiser at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, Ripon where she was a member, and where for many years, she was church greeter. For 23 years she worked on the assembly line at Speed Queen. Mary’s specialty was crocheting and making afghans.

She is survived by her husband, Edgar of Ripon; 2 brothers, Ervin (Bernita) Cluppert of Markesan and Elmer Cluppert of Berlin; 2 sisters, Delia Ehrenberg of Ripon and Elsie Burt of Ripon; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 29, 2000, from 4 until 7 PM at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at 11 AM at the Chapel of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ with Rev. James D. Mohr officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. A Memorial has been established for Our Saviour’s UCC.
