Mary Catherine (Mrs. David) Grothe, beloved wife, mother and friend, age 49, of the Town of Ripon, WI, passed away Thursday, August 15, 1996, at home. She had been a survivor of two and one-half years with cancer.
She was born July 4, 1947 in Ripon. She was a 1965 graduate of Green Lake High School and attended Wisconsin State University-Oshkosh. On September 30, 1967, she married David Grothe at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Ripon. She had been employed by M & I Bank in Oshkosh and Ripon, and later at DD Associates of Ripon. She and her husband ran the Holliday Station in Ripon from 1971 to 1992. Mary Catherine was a member of the Ripon Lioness since January 1984. She served on the Board of Directors and was President from 1986 87.
She is survived by her husband, David; and two daughters, Michelle and Catherine; mother, Marion Williams, and brother, Robert Gloyd. Mary Catherine is also survived by her father, Benjamin Hathaway of Wautoma. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth, one brother, Timothy Williams and grandparents.
There will be a social gathering from 9:00 until 10:30 am on Saturday, August 17, 1996, at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Ripon followed by a Memorial Service at 10:30 am at the church with Father Robert J.C. Brown officiating. Inurnment will take place Monday in Green Lake Center Cemetery in the Town of Green Lake. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
