Mary Bishop (Stearns) Hinds, age 76, of Ripon, was called to eternal life on Monday evening, February 5, 2001, at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.
She was born March 20, 1924, in the Town of Byron, the daughter of Benjamin and Matilda Jane (Lovejoy) Stearns. She received her early education in rural Brandon and graduated from Brandon High School. In 1943, she married Dean W. Hinds in Walla Walla, WA, and together they co-owned and operated Deans Texaco in Ripon for 25 years. Mary later was office manager at Pamida in Ripon for 12 years. Mrs. Hinds was a member of the United Methodist Church, Brandon, and taught Sunday School in Brandon and Ripon.
Survivors are her loving husband, Dean W. Hinds of Ripon; 1 son, Donald D. Hinds and daughter-in-law, Mary L. Hinds of Aurora, IL; grandchildren, Dawn C. Hinds and Darcie M. Hinds, both of Oshkosh, and Dustin D. Hinds of Neenah; 1 great-grandchild, D.J. (Dean Donald James) Hinds of Oshkosh: and brother, Jason Stearns of Waupun. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Benjamin Glen Stearns.
Funeral service for Mary B. Hinds will be 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2001, at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. The Rev. Harley C.W. Tretow will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home. lnurnment will take place at a later date in the spring at Liberty Prairie Cemetery, Town of Utica. A memorial has been established.
