Mary-Jessie Nash Carter, 75, of Green Lake, WI died March 8, 1994, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac of Cancer.
She was born in Ripon, WI on April 16, 1918, the daughter of Stuart Beeman Nash and Florence Seelig Nash. She was a 1936 graduate of Ripon High School and attended Milwaukee Downer College. She was married in Ripon on July 16, 1938 to Arthur Haseltine Carter. Survivors include her husband, five daughters, Sarah Sally (Andrew) Fleming, currently living on their sailboat in the Mediterranean Sea; Nancy (Edwin) Kuhn of Ripon, Anne (and friend Mary Frazier) Haseltine Carter of Northfield, MN; Mary (Larry) Carter Edgington of Green Lake, Jane Stuart Carter of Denver, CO; and one son, David (Nancy Grube) Nash Carter of Lombard, IL. Also surviving are her sister, Nancy Ann (Leonard) Nash, and aunt Carolyn Lathrop of Oshkosh, WI, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Mary-Jessie Nash Carter was a homemaker who resided for many years in Cleveland, OH, and Pittsburgh, PA before retiring in Green Lake with her husband in 1970. She was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church, Ripon, and numerous organizations in the Ripon and Green Lake area, including Ripon Study Club, Ripon Library Association, Ripon Historical Society, the South Woods Park Association, Dartford Education Club, and the Dartford Historical Society. She was a former president of the Caestacker Library Board in Green Lake and for many years was a volunteer for the Girl Scouts and in Red Cross Blood Donor Programs.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 1994 at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Ripon, with the Reverend Robert J.C. Brown officiating. The family will greet friends in the undercroft immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to the Red Cross Blood Bank or Ripon College.
