Mary Kay Hammen

Mary Kay Hammen, age 87, of Ripon, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 18, 2016, at Copperleaf Village in Ripon with her daughters by her side.

She was born on July 6, 1928, the daughter of Henry and Edna (Hanson) Hobbs. She was a graduate of Ripon High School. On March 20, 1948, Mary Kay married Orice Hammen and remained his devoted wife of 62 years until his passing in 2009. She was a loving mother to her four daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary Kay was a lifelong member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon. For over 60 years they have donated the 24 foot Christmas tree to the church. Mary Kay loved watching birds, listening to music, sitting in the sun, eating desserts and spending time with family and friends. She was most happy doing anything, as long as she was by her husband “Odie’s” side. They enjoyed traveling and wintering in Las Vegas, playing cards, boating on Green Lake, golfing, taking long drives and going out to eat at her favorite, Norton’s restaurant. She will be remembered for her big, warm smile and generous nature.

Survivors include her children, Kathleen Ryan and Holly Clarke of Ripon, WI, Peggy (David) Monte of Waunakee, WI; son-in-law, David Ninnemann of Neenah, WI; her grandchildren, Melissa (Eric) Bachmann, Amanda Ryan, Andrew (Kris Hurley) Clarke, Sarah (Brad) Foskett, Mary (Dave Meierdirk) Belling, Jenny (Keith) Haack, Adam (Matthew Kaltenberg) Ninnemann, Robyn (Ray) LaBarge, Justin Sager and Jamie and Adam Monte; her great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Maxwell Belling, Ethan Clarke, Nash and Linc Foskett and Avery and River Meierdirk. She is also survived by her sister, Maxine Klingbeil of Sheboygan and brother-in-law, Martin (Sharon Lentz) Hammen of Ripon, WI and many nieces and nephews. Mary Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Henry Hobbs; husband, Orice Hammen; daughter, Julie Ninnemann; sister, Betty Marx; nephew, Kevin Klingbeil; son-in-law, Jay Clarke; step-mother, Laura Grams and step-sister, Elaine Wells.

Visitation for Mary Kay Hammen will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016, from 10 – 12:00 pm at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971.

Funeral Service for Mary Kay Hammen will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at 12:00 pm at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon. Reverend Dr. Kevin P. Mundell will officiate. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Fairwater Cemetery in the Village of Fairwater. Memorials may be directed to Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ Christmas Tree Fund, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971.
