Mary G. Kinas, age 70 of Green Lake, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2009 at her home.
Mary was born on March 30, 1939, in West Bend Wisconsin, the daughter of Henry and Pearl (Elkert) Gehl. She graduated from Wauwatosa High School and attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison where she met and married her husband Kenneth Kinas.
Following several years in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, they returned to Green Lake. Mary practiced real estate as a independent broker. She spent many years on Green Lake’s Library Board and was a founding member of the Caestecker Library Foundation. A long time member of the Green Lake Yacht Club, Mary enjoyed crewing for her husband on their Snipe and skippering her Optimist Pram with the Senior Girls’ Fleet. She was a member of P.E.O., The Dartford Educational Club, Mascoutin Golf Club, and The Federated Church of Green Lake. She loved to golf, travel, read, and play bridge with good friends.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Ken, of 50 years, children Susan Kinas of Port Washington, WI.; Sara Kinas of Tucson, AZ.; and David (Deanne) of Tucson, AZ.; and three grandchildren, Matthew, Alexis, and Nicole, all of Tucson. She is also survived by her brother James (Judy) Gehl of Mequon, WI.
Visitation will be held for Mary Friday, August 21, 2009 from 4-7 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant funeral Home of Ripon and again Saturday, August 22, 2009 from 10-11 a.m. at the Federated Church of Green Lake.
Memorial will be held for Mary Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Federated Church of Green Lake, with the Reverend Karen Gygax-Rodriguez officiating. A memorial has been established to Agnesian Healthcare Hospice Hope or the Federated Church of Green Lake.
