Mary Lou Hoover, 78, Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, August 13, 2003, in her home. She was born in Lincoln, NB, on October 1, 1924 to John C. and Leilabeth Farrell Warren Sr. After graduating in 1942 from Beatrice High School in Beatrice, NE, she went on to Monticello Girls College in Monticello, IL, for one year, followed by two years at Colorado Womens College in Greeley, CO.
Mary Lou was a resident of Fond du Lac for more than 40 years, where she made a loving home for her four children. She was married to Charles W. Hoover for 49 years and was a member of Saint Agnes Hospitals Auxiliary, the Ladys of the B.P.O.E Elks Club 57, and several area bridge clubs; she was also a former member of South Hills Country Club. Mary Lou was a truly graceful woman who enjoyed caring for her children and grandchildren, spending time with her many good friends, playing cards, and watching the wonders of the sky; she loved horses, Colorado peaches, Door County cherry pies, and travel.
Survivors include one daughter, Cathy (Brooks) Feldmann of Neenah, WI; three sons, Michael of Las Vegas, NV, Richard of Las Vegas, NV, Roger (Tricia) of Baileys Harbor, WI; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicholas, and Katherine of Neenah, and Chasen of Las Vegas; as well as many friends and relatives. Her parents, one brother, John Warren Jr., and her former husband, Charles W. Hoover preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Fond du Lac. The service will be preceded at 10:30 by visitation at the Church. Bagpipe ceremony and internment will follow in the Church courtyard, and services will be concluded with a luncheon for family and friends at the Church. Memorials may be directed to Cathedral Church of St. Paul of Fond du Lac or Saint Agnes Hospital Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac, WI.
