Mary Lou Nitz, age 75, of Ripon, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, with her family at her side.
Mary Lou was born in Borth, WI on October 18, 1933, the daughter of William and Frieda (Piotter) Pigorsch. She went to school in Berlin and Oshkosh and graduated from Oshkosh High School. On September 19, 1953 she married Lloyd Nitz at Trinity Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Mary Lou was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Pickett, and was a former member of the Ladies aid and Choir of the church, as well as being a Fond du Lac County 4-H Leader for 21 years.
Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Nitz of Ripon; her children, Debra (Daniel) Bierman of Green Lake, Susan Kernan of California, Dennis Nitz of Ripon, Diane (John) Ottman of Berlin; three grandchildren, Joshua, Alex and Clinton; two sisters, Betty (Marvin) Bradley of Oshkosh, Shirley Drew of Oshkosh; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Otto and Ruth Nitz; two brothers-in-law, Clifford Drew and Marvin Nummerdor; one sister-in-law, Jean Nummerdor; two nephews, Steven Drew and Brian Bradley.
Visitation for Mary Lou Nitz will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2008, from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, and again on Sunday, October 26, 2008, from 1-2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Pickett.
Funeral service for Mary Lou Nitz will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Pickett, with Pastor Russell W. Kloehn officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty Prairie Cemetery, Town of Utica. Memorials can be given to the church Elevator Fund.
