Melvin Dennis Blank, age 85, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017, at his home.
Melvin was born June 1, 1932, in Ixonia, WI, to Ernst and Ida (Mueller) Blank. His mother passed away when he was 10 years old and then he was raised by his Uncle Joe and Aunt Lena Duzinske.
Melvin married Carol Reiser in May of 1959 and they later divorced. He started working at Alliance Laundry (Speed Queen) in September of 1952 and retired in October of 2015 after 63 years of service. He was a member of the United Steel Workers of American Local #1327. Besides working at the “tub factory”, Melvin farmed most of his life. He loved driving his tractors. After retirement, Melvin enjoyed driving around the country sides and mowing the grass on his farms. Most of all he cherished his family, friends and neighbors.
Survivors include his daughter, Michelle (Craig) Leinweber of Ripon, WI and his son, Mike (Jill) Blank of Ripon, WI; grandchildren, Jacob, Samuel and Madalyn Leinweber; one brother, Howard Blank; step-grandchildren, Sara (Gary), Becca, Sean (Lily) and Morgan; step-great-grandchildren, Isaac and Liam. Melvin is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, and four sisters, Iris Platt, Liela Klauer, Sylvia Krause and Doris Wallace.
Visitation for Melvin will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, from 4 – 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Thursday, July 13, 2017, from 11 – 12:00 pm at Messiah Lutheran Church, 500 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral Service for Melvin will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at 12:00 pm at Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon. Reverend Bryan Fritsch will officiate. Interment will follow at Loper Cemetery in the Town of Ripon. A memorial is being established in his name.
