Melvin Robbins

September 6, 1933 — November 4, 2008

Melvin D. Robbins, age 75, of Wautoma, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at the Barrett House of Ripon.

Melvin was born on September 6, 1933, in his parents home, in rural Fond du Lac County, the son of Theodore R. and Doris (Ziegenhagen) Robbins. He worked as a farmer his entire life in Fond du Lac County, and retired in the Town of Mt. Morris on Morris Lake. Melvin was a member of the Ripon Gun Club.

Along with farming Melvin enjoyed using his saw mill to make lumber which he turned into furniture and cabinets. Many of these items were used in the log house he built at Mt. Morris. Elementary students from around the Rosendale/Brandon school district will remember his apple orchard and sampling the apple cider he helped them to squeeze. His smile and the twinkle in his eyes brightened the days and lives of many people.

Survivors include one sister, Adaline Robbins of Mt. Morris, WI; one nephew, Myron Giffey of Eldorado, WI; and one niece, Christine Giffey-Brohaugh of Rosendale, WI, two great nephews, Joshua and Zachary Giffey; and three great-nieces, Acadia, Rachel, and Phoebe Giffey-Brohaugh. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Alma (Robbins) Broadway and Marian (Robbins) Giffey.
