Melvin A. Zeatlow, age 72, of 940 Loop Rd, Town of Nepeuskun, died unexpectedly Sunday evening, March 30, 2003, at Berlin Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 15, 1930, in Ripon, the son of Emil and Mabel (Radtke) Zeatlow. He graduated from Ripon High School, and then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On September 30, 1950, he married Shirley Bradley at the Waukau United Methodist Church. In his early years, Melvin worked at the Silver Creek Canning Company, and then for 48 years worked in the mixing room at Ripon Foods. Upon his retirement, he volunteered his time at the Ripon Thrift Store doing what he loved most, helping others. He also worked part-time for Tom Rogers. He was a member of the Waukau United Methodist Church, in Waukau. Melvin loved to garden, hunt and fish. He enjoyed spending his time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Zeatlow of Ripon; son Mark (Marilyn) Zeatlow of Brandon; daughter, Pam (Michael) Davis of Berlin; 3 grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel and Aaron Zeatlow; sisters in law, Vivian Tews of Ripon, Joyce (Lee) Roberts of Oshkosh, and Eunice (Henry) Guell of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law, Leonard (Diane) Bradley of Madison; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and two wonderful friends, Betty Skottet and Anthony Vranak from the Ripon Thrift Store. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers-in-law, Marvin Tews and Dale Bradley.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2003, at the Waukau United Methodist Church with Pastor Eric Schlieter officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home Ripon, and again on Thursday one hour prior to the church service. Interment will be in Nepeuskun Cemetery, Winnebago County. A memorial has been established.
