Merlin Whitney

June 13, 1936 — May 4, 2003

Merlin Warren Whitney, age 66, passed away at his home in the Town of Nepeuskun, Sunday, May 4, 2003.

Merlin was born June 13, 1936, in the Town of Ripon, the son of Walter and Myra (Whiting) Whitney. He married Donna Daigle on June 14, 1958, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Ripon. Merlin was a 1954 graduate of Ripon High School. He worked as a printer at the Speed Queen Company and Smokey’s Printing both of Ripon. He then worked as Supervisor of the Duplicating/Mail Center Departments at Ripon College for 37 years until his retirement in 1999. He was a lifetime member of the Northeastern Wisconsin Chapter of the In-Plant Printing Management Association and served as various officers including President in 1987-88. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church of Ripon and ushered there until the time of his stroke in 1998.

Survivors include his wife Donna of Ripon; three daughters, Patricia Whitney of New Brighton, Minnesota, Michel (James) Hansen of Auroraville, WI and Gloria (James) Warren of Cambridge, WI.; One son, James Whitney (special friend Marilyn Smith) of Green Lake; three grandchildren, Margaret, Nicole, and Jessica Colvin and one great-grandchild, Austin of Cambridge, WI; Two step-grandchildren, Chad (Tabitha) Hansen and family and Mia Hansen and family. He is also survived by one sister, Marlys Whitney of Ripon, a brother-in-law, Merle Voskuil of Waupun, a sister-in-law, Marian Soda of Princeton, two brother-in-laws, Allen (Audrey) and Paul (Evelyn) Daigle of Colorado Springs, CO, numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Ora Jean Voskuil and one brother-in-law, Aloizie Soda.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 6, 2003 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Ripon with Father Robert A. Fictum officiating. Interment will be at Rosendale Cemetery, Village of Rosendale. A memorial has been established in his name.
