Mildred Shook, age 90, of Green Lake, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Juliette Manor Nursing Home in Berlin.
Mildred was born on April 23, 1916 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of George B. and Grace (Musselman) Arnold. She graduated from Cerro Gordo High School in 1934. Moving to Mt. Morris, IL, in 1935 she married Merlin L. Shook on June 26, 1937 at her family farm in LaPlace, IL. She was employed at Kable Printing Co. in Mt. Morris for 20 years working as a secretary in the sales department. Mildred was a member of Mt. Morris Church of the Brethren until moving to Rockford, IL in 1965, where she was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She and her husband moved to Hot Springs, AK, in 1977 for retirement. Mildred returned to Rockford in 1985, she served as Deacon of Westminster Presbyterian Church from 1993-1997. In 2000, she moved to Green Lake living with her daughter. She was a member of Federated Church in Green Lake.
Survivors include daughter, Sigrid A. Shook of Green Lake. Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Merlin, grandson, William N. Steinhagen Jr. 6 sisters and 2 brothers.
Visitation for Mildred Shook will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2006 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon.
Memorial Service for Mildred Shook will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home with Reverend Karen Gygax Rodriguez officiating. Inurnment will take place on a later date in Rock Ford, IL.
