Mrs. Mildred Irene Willis, age 94, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 1993, at Ripon Memorial Hospital.
She was born on September 13, 1898, in Rib Lake, WI, the daughter of Chester and Minnie (Fox) Tupper. On December 20, 1920, she married Fred R. Willis. He preceded her in death in 1977. Mrs. Willis graduated from Plymouth High School in 1915 and attended Oshkosh Normal School. She taught in rural schools in the Town of Sheboygan Falls, and Fond dud Lac County. She moved to Green Lake County in 1950 and taught in rural schools and moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1956 and taught in the city of Southgate. She graduated from Wayne State University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Education Degree. Mrs. Willis was a member of the Twentieth Century Club, 23 Homemakers Club, Federated Church of Green Lake and of the Women’s Fellowship; Ripon Chapter of D.A.R.; and A.A.U.W. of Ripon, Colonial Dames and the Willis-Chapel Post 306 American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, Edward (Carole) of Fond du Lac and David (Caroline) of Green Lake, and two daughters, Mildred “Dolly” Doolittle and Janice (Millard) Voskuil both of Fond du Lac, seven grandchildren and eleven great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah Gonger Boughner of San Jose, CA.
Funeral services for Mildred Willis will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 20, 1993, at the Federated Church of Green Lake with the Reverend Kent Meyer officiating. Interment will follow in Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake. Friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon.
