Mildred “Millie” A. Zahn, age 92, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Michalene’s in Ripon.
She was born August 1, 1922, in Budsin, WI, the daughter of Victor and Anna (Tetzlaff) Ketteler. In her early life, her parents moved to a farm east of Ripon where she grew up and graduated from Ripon High School. After graduation, she was employed at Ripon Knitting Works during WWII making socks for soldiers. Millie married Leonard W. Zahn on November 17, 1945, making her home at the farm in Pickett. She occasionally worked at local canning factories during the harvest season. Her main interests were helping Lenny on the farm, family, cooking and baking up a storm. Millie enjoyed music and loved to dance. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Pickett.
Survivors include her two sons, Gary (Jody) of Pickett, WI and Robert (Kay) of Ripon, WI; three grandsons, Jesse (Haydee) and Jordon (Rebecca) both of Pickett, WI and Aaron (Sarah) Kramer of Prairie du Chien, WI; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley, Leah, Haley, Leonard, Kylie, Emily and Carson; brother, Laurence Ketteler; two sisters-in-law, Erna Zahn and Sarah Ketteler and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Anna; husband, Leonard in 1980; two sisters, Pearl Brookman and Inez Gruetzmacher; in-laws, William and Clara; two sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law.
Visitation for Millie will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014, from 3 – 6:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Saturday, November 15, 2014, from 10 – 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 502 County Road M, Pickett, WI 54964.
Funeral service for Millie will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church in Pickett. Pastor Jud Krohn will officiate. Interment will follow at Liberty Prairie Cemetery in the Town of Utica. A memorial is being established.
The family would like to thank the staff at Michalene’s in Ripon for the wonderful care given to Millie for the last four and half years.
