Mildruth Weinkauf

Mildruth Lillian (nee Korth) Weinkauf, age 101, of Fairwater, WI, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Martha’s in Princeton.
She was born on January 30, 1912, at the family homestead in Fairwater, where she lived her entire life. Mildruth was the daughter of Herman and Henrietta "Hattie" (Frei) Korth. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater and a lifelong member. Mildruth worked for Dr. Ivan Martin, D.V.M. in Milwaukee. In 1933, she returned home due to the death of her brother to help her parents run the farm. On October 25, 1942, she married Adolph Weinkauf; together they raised four children and ran the family farm until retirement in 1980. After retiring and with farming still in their blood, she and her husband sold produce at area Farmer’s Markets. While running the family farm, she also worked at American Stores Canning Factory. She was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of Fond du Lac County Farm Bureau, a Food and Nutrition Leader for the Fairwater Harvesters 4-H Club, worked on the Village of Fairwater Election Board and Treasurer for the Fairwater Rod & Gun Club. She also decorated cakes for many weddings, birthdays and anniversaries, which she loved to do. In 1992, Adolph and Mildruth celebrated their Golden Anniversary. She went to work at Pick n’ Save in Ripon when she was in her late eighties, retiring when she was 93. She lived on the family farm until 2008, she then went to live with her daughter and husband. In 2011, she moved into an assisted living facility. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who always put her family’s needs before her own and is remembered for all her stories of her wonderful life.
Mildruth is survived by three children, Gil (Nancy) Weinkauf of Grafton, David (Nita) Weinkauf of Brandon and Rosanne (William) Wick of Princeton; five grandchildren, Julie (significant other, Cynthia) Weinkauf, Heather (Brad) Grinsteinner, Todd (Meredith) Weinkauf, Susan (Jeff) Leahy, Kevin Weinkauf; ten special step-grandchildren, Bill (Scarlett) Lovelle, Chris (Dale) Cox, Brenda (John) Hollatz, Denise Calo, Amy (Eric) Kivela, Peggy (Erik) Coehoorn, Cliff Weinkauf, Jeni Portz, Luis Weinkauf and twenty great-grandchildren, Jordon, Amber, Billy, Krystal, Mackenzie, Tanner, Layken, Dayton, Hailey, Brexden, Oliver, Adrian, Amelia, Bailey, Riley, Alyssa, Ayden, Cody, Jerek, Callie and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, her husband, one son, Bruce Weinkauf; one grandson, Andrew Wick; one granddaughter, Lori Simson and great-granddaughter, Margarette Simson.
Visitation for Mildruth will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013, from 4 – 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Saturday, February 23, 2013, from 10 – 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church 100 Church St. Fairwater, WI 53931.
Funeral service for Mildruth will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater. Pastor Rick Engen will officiate. Interment will follow at Fairwater Cemetery in the Village of Fairwater. Even though our mother loved flowers, she requested that in lieu of flowers, a memorial be established.
