Monica Meilahn, age 82, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Friday, July 18, 1986, at Ripon Memorial Hospital.
Monica was born March 16, 1904, in the Town of Utica, Winnebago County, WI, the daughter of Daniel and Rosa (Morrow) Shea. She was educated in Elo, WI and St. John’s Catholic School in Oshkosh and Mercy Medical Center Nursing School. On November 10, 1926, Monica married Ewald Meilahn in Illinois. She worked as an R.N. for several area hospitals and had been a nurse for Drs. Wiesander and Sievers in Berlin for many years. Monica was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ripon and a former member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of America and AARP.
Survivors include his son, Daniel of Ripon; one daughter, Leslie (Phyllis) Flanagan of Omro; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ewald in August of 1957.
Visitation for Monica will be held on Monday, July 21, 1986, from 3 – 5:00 pm and again from 6 – 8:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon with a Prayer Service at 8:00 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial for Monica will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 1986, at 10:30 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Reverend John A. Schmitz officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Ripon.
