Myrtle Jennie Awers, age 89, died Tuesday, May 7, 1996 at her home in Oshkosh.
She was born October 23, 1906 in Ripon, a daughter of the late Ernest and Pauline(Heiden) Meilahn. She attended school in Ripon. On September 27, 1945, she married Sam Awers. Myrtle was a switchboard operator and homemaker, and had lived most of her life in Milwaukee until retirement when she and her husband moved to Pickett. Myrtle was a member of the Elo United Methodist Church and of the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by 1 sister, Loretta Konrad and 1 brother, Nelson (Cerylene) Meilahn, both of Pickett; 2 sisters-in-law, Carole Meilahn of Oshkosh and Beryl Awers of Milwaukee; 8 nieces and nephews; and 14 great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, two infant Sons, 1 Sister, Mavin Manuel, and 2 brothers, Wesley Meilahn and Leonard Meilahn.
Funeral services will be at ii A.M. Friday, May 10, 1996 at the Elo United Methodist
Church with Pastor Jeff Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty Prairie
Cemetery, Town of Utica. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of
the service at the church.
