Nathan C. Lawless, age 77, of Ripon, died Sunday, September 1, 1996, at the Berlin Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 3, 1919, in Ripon, a son to Harry and Georgia (Paul) Lawless. He was a graduate of Ripon High School, and served his country in Europe during WWII from 1943-1946. Nate was united in marriage with Florence Nelson on February 15, 1947, in Ripon. He worked as a service specialist at the Wisconsin Power & Light Co. in Ripon for 34 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Ripon, Pioneer Club of Wisconsin Power & Light, and V.F.W. Post #5278, Ripon. Nate was known for his talent in painting pictures.

He is survived by his wife, Florence, 1 son, Michael (Amy) Lawless of Ripon, and 3 grandsons, Nathan, Matthew and Ryan, all of Ripon. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, and 3 half-brothers.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 6, 1996, at 10:00 A.M. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. The Reverend John W. Bixby, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in the Garden of the Cross Cemetery in Ripon. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 until 7:30 P.M., followed by a V.F.W. Service at 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
