Nelson Gneiser

Nelson A. “Nellie” Gneiser, 86, of Ripon, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Michalene’s in Ripon.
Nelson was born on December 17, 1920 the son of Herman and Ida (Dumdie) Gneiser in Ripon, WI. He graduated Ripon High School, and then went to Ripon College for 1 year. “Nellie” worked for the Wisconsin Power and Light Company as a Lineman. He also worked at the Telephone Company, at Speed Queen in Ripon for 14 years in the Office, and retired from the City of Ripon where he worked in the Maintenance/Street Dept. On December 21, 1945 he married Amy Huibregtse Wentland and they made their home in Ripon. “Nellie” served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Ripon, as well as the Schultz-Klemp-Wentland V.F.W. Post #5278.
Survivors include two daughters; Anne (Richard) Dugdale of Littleton, CO, and Nancy (Fred) Hood of Longmont, CO. Also surviving are 4 Grandchildren; Sherri Dugdale, Jeff (Heather) Dugdale, Scooter (Wendy) Hood, and Tom (Christina) Hood, and 6 great-grandchildren. “Nellie” was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, 4 brothers, and 4 sisters.
Visitation for Nelson A. Gneiser will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 from 4:00-7:00PM at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. A V.F.W. service will be conducted at 7:00PM. Visitation will be again on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 from 9:30-10:30AM at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Nelson A. Gneiser will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at 10:30AM at the Butzin Marchant Funeral Home with the Reverend Jack W. Kraaz officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in the City of Ripon. Memorials can be made to the Agnesian Healthcare Hospice Hope, 114 N. Pearl St. Berlin, WI 54923.
