Norbert Christian Lenz, age 94, of Green Lake, passed away early morning on Monday, November 22, 2010, at Berlin Memorial Hospital in Berlin, WI.
Norbert was born on March 24, 1916, in the Town of Meeme, Manitowoc County, the son of August and Lena (Poppenhagen) Lenz. He graduated from Keil High School in 1933. Norbert was drafted into the US Army in June of 1941, and served until October of 1945. Norbert was awarded the Purple Heart and the Silver Star for Valor above and beyond the call of duty. Norbert was a plumber for Lenz & Wells Plumbing. Norbert belonged to the Green Lake Willis-Chapel Legion Post 306 of Green Lake and was a member of Federated Church of Green Lake. On April 9, 1951, Norbert married Eileen Spudick until her passing on May 21, 1988.
Norbert is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mabel and June Lenz; nieces and nephews, Jeannelle Bennin, Geraldine Lenz, Vickie Lenz, Arlene “Teeter” Allen, Juanita Stadler, Ron Lenz; John Smith, Dale Lenz and Dwight Lenz; numerous great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers; Wilhelm, Erwald, Arnold, Alvis and Clarence.
Visitation for Norbert Lenz will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010, from 9 – 11:00 am at the Federated Church of Green Lake, 489 Scott St., Green Lake, WI 54941.
Funeral Service for Norbert Lenz will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 11:00 am at the Federated Church of Green Lake in Green Lake, WI. Reverend Karen Gygax Rodriguez will officiate. Interment will follow with Military Honors at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake. Memorials may be given to Federated Church of Green Lake, 489 Scott St., Green Lake, WI 54941 or Green Lake Willis-Chapel Legion Post #306, P.O. Box 448, Green Lake, WI 54941.
