Norbert Speier

Norbert Edward Speier, age 82, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Ripon Medical Center with his family by his side.

Norbert was born on October 26, 1929, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of John and Sophie (Kurtys) Speier. He graduated from high school and also from mortuary school. Norbert then went on to serve our country in the United States Army. He served from 1951 – 1953 during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. Then on January 29, 1958, Norbert married Audrey Ann Wavrunek at St. Robert’s in Merrill, WI. He owned and operated Speier’s Funeral Home in Ripon from 1958 – 1984. Norbert was a member of the American Legion Brown-Parfit Post 43 and V.F.W Schultz-Kemp-Wentland Post 5278. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and a founding member of Ripon Council of the Knights of Columbus 4877.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Audrey of Ripon, WI; two children, Ann (Rick) Mlodzik of Ripon, WI and Ellen Caban of Kapolei, HI; daughter-in-law, Cheri Speier of Okemos, MI; grandchildren, Ted and Erika “Riky” Mlodzik of Ripon, WI, Mark and Chris Speier of Okemos, MI and Emilie and Eddie Caban of Kapolei, HI; brother, Carl Speier of Milwaukee, WI and many nieces and nephews. Norbert was preceded in death by his parents, son, Mark; infant daughter and several brothers and sisters.

Visitation for Norbert Speier will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, from 9:30 – 11:30 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 415 E. Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI 54971.

Mass of Christian Burial for Norbert Speier will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 11:30 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 415 E. Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI 54971. Reverend Robert A. Fictum will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Ripon. Memorials may be directed to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
