Orlo Arthur Bierman, age 84, of Green Lake, WI passed away on Saturday morning, September 30, 2023 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton, WI surrounded by his family.
Orlo was born on August 3, 1939 in Kingston, WI, the son of Norbert and Viola (Siepert) Bierman. He served our country in the Wisconsin National Guard, COB 2nd Battalion, 127th Infantry. He was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis and was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA.
On May 27, 1961, he married his beloved Lois Marie Gneiser in Ripon, WI.
Orlo’s true love in life was his best friend and wife, Lois of 62 years, they were inseparable. They did everything in life together, raising a family, running a successful real estate business, and enjoying their family and grandchildren.
Orlo lived in Green Lake most of his life. He graduated from Green Lake High School, class of 1957. He attended UW Stevens Point and the University of Minnesota. Orlo and his brother, Dan, owned and operated Lake Real Estate started by their father, Norb in the early 1940’s. Orlo retired at the age of 82 from real estate, saying “53 years, 4 months, and 3 days was enough.”
The white Hummer was easily recognizable in town and surrounding areas. Orlo was a member of Green Lake Rotary (missing only one meeting since 1968) and Green Lake Co/Ripon Area Board of Realtors. He served on the Town of Brooklyn and City of Green Lake Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals, as well as the Town of Brooklyn Fire Department and Green Lake State Bank Board of Directors.
Outside of the office, Orlo enjoyed spending time at the “woods,” whether it was just checking on his trail cameras or planning for the next deer opener - a family tradition. Always ready to go to the next baseball or basketball game and swim meet to watch his grandchildren; he was always supportive and so proud of each of his children and grandchildren. Gramps was the expert for instruction on deer, duck, and turkey hunting; fishing on the pond; and enjoying “Gramps Camp” with his grandchildren.
Orlo loved his family. His biggest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren, all of whom survive him in addition to his wife, Lois; children, Lori (Rick) Waters, Michael (Helcia) Bierman, Lynn (David) Ryan; grandchildren, Ashley (Andrew) Freeman, Casey (Jordyn) Ryan, Malena (Zachary) Zachow, Cody Ryan, Shane Ryan, Kaley Waters; his great-grandchild, Aria Freeman; and his siblings, Marney Mann and Dan (Debra) Bierman. Orlo is further survived by many other family members.
Orlo was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Viola Bierman; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Dorothy (Zweiger) Gneiser; and brother-in-law, James Gneiser.
