Oscar H. Luedke, age 89, of N4455 Horner Rd., Markesan, passed away Sunday morning, December 5, 2004 at Maplecrest Manor, Ripon.
Oscar was born in the Township of St. Marie on December 2, 1915, the son of Rienhold and Elsa (Bierman) Luedke. He graduated from Ripon High School in 1933 and married Adela Albright on December 31, 1937. Oscar farmed until 1952 after which he was employed at Fullerton Lumber Co. In 1965, he was employed as a custodian at Markesan Middle School until his retirement in 1982. He was a lifelong member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon, serving on the Church Council for two terms, many years in the church brotherhood, the married couples club and the welcoming committee. He also served for 24 years as President of the Green Lake Center Cemetery Assoc. His wife, Adela, preceded him in death on July 7, 1987.
Survivors include children; Diana (Patrick) Steffen of Stevens Point, Orrin (Josephine) Luedke of Markesan, Janet (Richard) Sommer of Markesan and Keith (Deborah) Luedke of Owensboro, KY. 14 grandchildren; Phillip Steffen, Brian Steffen, Julie Steffen, Mark Steffen, Jeffrey Steffen, Craig Steffen, Christopher Steffen, Wanda Cintron, Stephanie Feltz, Rodney Sommer, Kevin Sommer, Cheryl Tuescher, Sarah Luedke and Jason Luedke. He is also survived by 26 great-grandchildren and one sister, Elda Page of Ripon. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson, Warren Luedke, one great-grandson, three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 8, with visitation from 10:00 until the time of service, at Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon. Rev Gerald Schrankler will officiate. Interment will be at Green Lake Center Cemetery, Green Lake County. A memorial has been established.
