Patricia (Burroughs) Johnson

Patricia Jean (Burroughs) Johnson, 73, passed away on Thursday evening, December 16, 2004, at her home after a courageous battle with leukemia. Pat was born February 15, 1931, in Somerville, Maine, daughter of John L. & Gladys Glidden Grotton. She graduated from Union High School, in Union, Maine in 1949. She entered the Woman’s Army Corps in 1951, was at several camps, the last being at Ft Lawton, Seattle, WA until 1953. She raised a large family of seven boys and two girls as a homemaker and later worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Fond du Lac, WI as a clerk, retiring after 22 years in 1992.

On January 17, 1981, Pat was united in marriage to Robert H. Johnson in Fond du Lac. They loved to travel, which they did a lot of places like Maine, Alaska, Colorado, Texas, Florida, California and all in between. Both Pat and Bob went as far as London, England and Hawaii. Other activities they enjoyed together were boating, fishing and snowmobiling. They traveled up North to races and to camp, play cards and grill out. Grandma loved spending time with her children and with her grandchildren playing games. After retirement, Pat and Bob spent every March and April in Texas with her daughter, Pam and her family. She loved being at home in Wisconsin for the Spring and Summer with her caring and loving husband Bob, cat Buffy and their Pomeranian dog Tiki. Pat was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

Pat is survived by her husband, Robert H. Johnson of Pickett, WI; and 11 children. They are sons, Orren M. Burroughs III (Patti), Fond du Lac, WI; Brian (Sandy) Burroughs, Fairbanks, AK; Bruce (Dee) Burroughs, Fond du Lac, WI; Dean (Bridgid) Burroughs, Ballwin, MO; Dale (Virg) Burroughs, Riverside, CA; Patrick (Missy) Burroughs, Wiseman, AK; and Rick Burroughs, Wiseman, AK; daughter, Pamela (Bryan) Green, Brenham,TX; stepsons, Jeffrey Johnson, Leadville, CO; Gregory Johnson, Pickett, WI; stepdaughter, June Morey of Pickett, WI.

Pat is further survived by 22 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Grandchildren are Cory, Michelle, Jason, Stacy, John, Madison, Meaghan, Longi, Josh, Rachael, Carl, Nathan, Heather, Cassandra, and Rikki Burroughs. Ashley & Matthew Green, Melinda (Johnson) Miller, Nathan Johnson, Samantha (Sami) Morey, Alex & Ceedar Durvall. Great-grandchildren are Alaska Burroughs, Madisen Miller and Michael Walls.

In addition, Pat is survived by 5 brothers: John W. (Helen) Grotton, So China, ME; Gordon (Arlene) Grotton, No Windham, ME; Gerald (Betty) Grotton, Vernon, CT, Wayne (Charlene) Grotton, Brooks, ME; and Anthony (Pat) Grotton, Brooks, ME; 6 sisters: Louise Tetem. Middletown, CT; Betty (Fred) McCormick, Houlton, ME; Joyce Pio, Spring Hill, FL; Rita (Frank) Carrow, Spring Hill, FL, Nina Chamberlain, China, ME; Judy (Herb) Leavitt, Exeter, ME; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Robert) Troller, Madison, WI; and Irene Johnson of Oshkosh;, WI. Pat has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Linda Marie Burroughs, grandson, Jamie Lee Burroughs, granddaughter, Ann Marie Burroughs, brothers Leroy (Alfreda) Grotton and Sheldon (June) Grotton, both of Maine and; brothers-in-law, Charles Johnson, Oshkosh, WI and Mike Pio of Spring Hill, FL; Mother and Father-in-law, Hedwig and Irvin W. Johnson of Oshkosh, WI.

Funeral services for Patricia J. Johnson will be Wednesday, December 22, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Pickett with Rev. Russell W. Kloehn officiating. Friends may call Tuesday, December 21, 2004, from 4-7 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon, and again on Wednesday at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Entombment will be at Ledgeview Memorial Park, Fond du Lac. A memorial has been established.
