Paul Hagan Sr., age 93, of Princeton, WI passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Fountain View Care Center in Ripon after receiving 3 months of loving care from the staff at Fountain View and from Agnesian Hospice Care.

Paul was born January 4, 1922, in Owosso, MI, the son of Robert J. and Marguerite (Scollon) Hagan. He graduated from St. Paul High School in Owosso, MI. Pursuing a childhood dream to fly airplanes, Paul enlisted in the RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) in 1941 and trained as a fighter pilot. He was sent to England and flew Hawker Hurricane and Spitfire fighter planes for the RAF. In 1943 he was transferred to serve our country during WWII in the United States Army Air Corp as a Flight Officer. Based in England, he flew P47 fighters and was awarded the Purple Heart.

In 1946, Paul married Rose T. Borsenik in Owosso, MI. He managed Hagan Implement Company in Owosso until 1960. He then co-owned and operated the Hagan and Wood farm equipment dealership in Corunna, MI until 1974. Paul moved to Plymouth, WI in 1975 to open and operate Hagan Equipment Company, a John Deere dealership, with sons Paul Jr. and Rodney until 1987. During his retirement years Paul worked part time for Pankow Construction in Plymouth, enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and spending time with family. As a loving father he will be greatly missed by his family. Paul will also be missed by the residents and staff of Prairie Place Assisted Living where for the past 3 years he was known for his daily walks, and his quick wit and smile. Paul was a devote Catholic and a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon where he did volunteer work and attended daily mass. He was also a member of The Knights of Columbus.

From the days of his youth through his retirement years Paul never backed away from hard work, he shoveled coal and grain at his father’s grain elevators when he was 12, and worked long hours in his businesses to provide a comfortable home for his family. He was well known in the farm communities of Shiawassee County, MI and Sheboygan County, WI for his honesty and integrity as a business owner. His work, example and guidance resulted in all seven of his children going on to obtain college educations and successful careers.

Survivors include seven children, Rod (Nancy) Hagan of Madison, WI, Paul (Betty) Hagan Jr. of Princeton, WI, Pat (Dwayne) Jones of Mathews, NC, Greg (Rosemary) Hagan of Traverse City, MI, Roberta (Wendell) Severson of Janesville, WI, Chris (Lynn) Hagan of Stubenville, OH and Joan (Juan) Diaz of Marietta, GA. Paul is further survived by ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marguerite Hagan; wife, Rose Hagan; two brothers, James (Mary), Croswell, MI, and Kenny (Donna), Owosso, MI, and two sisters, Helen (Victor) Zachar, Owosso, MI, and Kathleen (James) Butler, Reading, PA.

A visitation for Paul Hagan will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015, from 9:30 - 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 415 East Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI 54971.

A Memorial Mass for Paul Hagan will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015, at 11:00 an at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon. Reverend Robert A. Fictum will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. John’s Cemetery in Plymouth, WI. A memorial is being established.
